Martin Ross

Martin was admitted as a lawyer in 1997. He joined Browne & Co. in 1996, and was appointed a Principal in 2006. Martin practices in commercial law, and has extensive experience in the provision of legal advice, contractual drafting and commercial litigation. He has corporate, commercial, government, regulatory and private client expertise in a wide range of areas, including trade practices matters and acting for litigants in complex trade practices litigation.

Martin’s particular expertise is in all aspects of sports law, including broadcasting and new media rights in the digital era, the regulation and administration of sporting bodies’ corporate and external rules and governance, and sponsorship and the protection, exploitation and commercialisation of intellectual property and other rights.

Martin has advised numerous high profile organisations (including the Australian Football League), government bodies and individuals regarding substantial matters in the sporting field. Martin is a director of the Australian New Zealand Sports Law Association and a member of the Executive of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Sports Law group.
